These Terms of Service ("Agreement") govern the provision of doula and support services provided by Birth With April ("I", "me", "my" or "doula") to you ("client", "you", "your"). By booking any services with Birth With April, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these terms.
1. Scope of Services
I provide non-clinical birth support services, including but not limited to:
Antenatal support and education
Birth planning sessions
Continuous labour and birth support
Postnatal support
Virtual and phone-based doula support
I do not provide medical care, clinical assessments, or make medical decisions. You remain responsible for your own healthcare decisions at all times in consultation with your qualified healthcare providers.
2. Client Responsibilities
You agree to inform me of any relevant medical or personal information that may affect your care or my ability to support you.
You understand that my role is to offer emotional, informational, practical, and advocacy support, not medical care.
You remain responsible for your own informed consent, choices, and interactions with your healthcare providers.
3. Fees and Payment
My fees are clearly listed at the time of booking.
A non-refundable booking fee or deposit is required to secure your place in my diary.
Full payment is due according to the agreed payment schedule. Services will not commence unless payments have been made as agreed.
Payment plans may be offered by prior arrangement.
4. Cancellation & Refunds
The booking fee is non-refundable.
If you cancel services after full payment but before the on-call period begins, a partial refund may be considered on a case-by-case basis at my discretion.
No refunds will be issued once the on-call period begins or services have commenced.
If I am unable to attend your birth due to unforeseen circumstances, I will attempt to arrange a suitable backup doula if previously discussed and agreed. If no backup is available, a partial refund may be offered.
5. Backup Doula
Where possible, I may arrange for a backup doula in case of emergency or personal inability to attend your birth.
Backup arrangements will be discussed with you in advance.
You have the right to decline a proposed backup if you do not feel comfortable.
6. Confidentiality and Data Protection
All personal information you share is treated as confidential and handled in accordance with UK data protection legislation and my Privacy Policy.
7. Insurance and Liability
I am fully insured to practice as a doula in the UK.
While I provide professional and attentive support, I am not liable for any medical decisions, clinical outcomes, or events beyond my role as a non-medical support provider.
You acknowledge that birth and postpartum carry inherent unpredictabilities and that you are responsible for decisions relating to your care and your baby’s care.
8. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed and interpreted according to the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
